The name of Immortelle genus, Helichrysum italicum, is derived from the Greek words helios (sun) and chrysos (gold) which refers to the golden color of its blossoms. In all languages its folk name is connected with long and everlasting life. Immortelle essential oil is famous as a topical antiseptic and is used for healing small wound. It is considered as a “First aid” in treatment of small bleeding wounds where, and only in such case, it can be used undiluted. It is also used in the topical treatment of arthritic conditions, joint ailments, back and hip pain, venous stasis, varicose veins, and hemorrhoids.
